Daily Rosary
At Fatima, Our Lady asked people to say the daily Rosary.

First Apparition. May 13, 1917
Lucy asked if Francisco would go to heaven, the Madonna looked at Francisco and said “Yes, but he will have to say many rosaries.”

Just before Our Lady left the children, She asked them to say the rosary every day.

Second Apparition June 13
Mary requested the daily rosary. Lucy said, “What do you want of us?” “I want you to come here on the thirteenth of next month and pray the rosary every day

The Third Apparition. July 13
Mary requested the daily rosary. When the children arrived, they knelt and began saying the rosary. Soon after, Lucy called out, “Shut your umbrellas. The Lady is coming.” The air cooled and the sun dimmed. A white cloud traveled from the east and rested on the holm oak.

Lucy passed into ecstasy and asked “What do you want of me?” The Lady said “I want you to come here on the thirteenth of next month and continue to say the rosary every day in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary, in order to obtain peace for the world and an end to the war, for She alone can help.”

A dozen sentences later, Lucy presented some petitions to the Madonna. For the healing of a lame man, the Madonna requested daily rosary. For the conversion of a family, the Madonna requested daily rosary.

Soon after Lucy was heard to say “She wants people to recite the rosary. People must recite the rosary.”

Fourth Apparition.
“I want you to continue to come to the Cova da Iria on the thirteenth and to continue to say the Rosary every day.”

Fifth Apparition.
Mary requested the daily rosary. The crowd saw the same globe of light advancing from the east and settling on the holmoak. Then there was a rain of colored flower petals which disappeared as they reached the ground. Lucy called out “You must pray.” Thousands dropped to their knees and began to pray. Lucy asked the Lady “What do you want of me?” “I want you to continue to pray the rosary every day in order to obtain the end of the war.

Sixth Apparition
Mary requested the daily rosary. “Continue to pray the rosary every day.”

Sister Lucia was asked in 1946, when will the Consecration of Russia happen. She answered “It will happen. There might be much more suffering, more nations may be afflicted, but it will happen when a sufficient number are fulfilling the Requests.” So, in order to have the Consecration of Russia and peace on the planet, many will need to be saying the Rosary and doing the Five First Saturdays.

First Saturdays of Reparation
In 1925, Lucy was an eighteen-year-old postulant of the Dorothean Sisters at the convent in Ponteverda. After supper on Thursday December 10, Lucy was visited by Our Lady and the Child Jesus. Lucy wrote in the third person, “The Most Holy Virgin appeared to her, and by Her side, elevated on a luminous cloud, was the Child Jesus. The Most Holy Virgin rested Her hand on Lucy’s shoulder.

A Heart Encircled by Thorns
“And as She did so, She showed her a heart encircled by thorns, which She was holding in Her other hand. At the same time, the Child said” Have compassion on the heart of your Most Holy Mother, covered with Thorns, with which ungrateful men pierce It at every moment. And there is no one make an act of reparation to remove them.”

I Promise to Assist at Death
Then the Most Holy Virgin said, “Look, My daughter, at My Heart, surrounded with thorns with which ungrateful men pierce me at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You at least try to console me and announce in My name that I Promise to Assist at the moment of death, with all the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary, and keep Me company for 15 minutes while meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to Me.”

Say Often. “O my Jesus ...”
After showing the children a vision of hell, the Madonna said “Sacrifice yourself for sinners and say often especially when you make some sacrifice: O, my Jesus, this is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for offences against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

It is good to practice saying this often. It will begin to chisel a new attitude in one’s way of navigating through the world.

Reparation and Sacrifice
The apparitions of Fatima have many requests for reparation and sacrifice. Reparation is the action of men to atone to God for the offense done to Him by the disrespect of their sins. Men can repair for their sins. Through the communion of saints, they can repair for the sins of others. Confession forgives sins. But a stain remains. Men must move to erase the stain by prayer, fasting, sacrifice, and almsgiving.

Below are excerpts from some of the apparitions which touch on the subject of reparation and sacrifice.

Sacrifice in reparation for countless offences
In Fatima Portugal in the spring of 1916, three shepherd children saw an angel approach them while they were tending their sheep. The angel looked like translucent crystal and looked like a boy of 14.

A couple months later in the summer, the same angel approached the children. He said, “What are you doing. You must pray. You must pray a great deal. The Hearts of Jesus and Mary have designs of Mercy upon you. Offer up prayers and sacrifices constantly to the Most High.” Lucy said “We don’t know how to make sacrifices.” The angel said, “Make everything you do a sacrifice. Offer it to God in reparation of the countless offences by which He is offended and in supplication for the conversion of sinners. In this way you will bring peace to your country. I am its guardian angel, the angel of Portugal. Above all, accept and bear with submission all the suffering that the Lord may send you.”

In the fall of 1916, the angel again appeared. He was holding a chalice and above it was suspended a Host dripping Blood. The angel prostrated himself before the chalice and Host and prayed three times.

The Prayer. “Most holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I adore you profoundly and I offer you the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Thy Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, really and truly present in all the tabernacles of the world. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of you the conversion of sinners.”

Horribly Outraged. The angel then gave the Chalice to Francisco and Jacinta and the Host to Lucy. He prostrated himself again and said the prayer slowly three more times. He said “Receive the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, horribly outraged by ungrateful men. Make reparation and console your God”. He then disappeared.

Reparation for countless sins
At the first apparition of the Madonna, She asked Lucy “Would you like to offer yourselves to God and accept any suffering that the Lord would send you in reparation for the countless sins by which He is offended and in supplication for the conversion of sinners?” Lucy nodded for the three. “Then, you will have much to suffer. But the Grace of God will be your comfort.”

Outraged by the Sins of humanity
Lucy later described what she had seen at the second apparition. "In front of the palm of Our Lady's right hand was a heart encircled by thorns which pierced it". "We understood that this was the Immaculate Heart of Mary, outraged by the sins of humanity, and seeking reparation."

The light from Our Lady's palms "penetrated to our inmost hearts," said Lucy, adding: "I think that on that day the main purpose of this light was to infuse within us a special knowledge and love for the Immaculate Heart of Mary, just as on the other two occasions it was intended to do, as it seems to me, with regard to God.”

Sacrifice for the Conversion of Sinners
At the third apparition, the Madonna said “Sacrifice yourself ... for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for offences against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Request for Consecration of Russia and the First Saturdays
A few sentences later, the Madonna said “When you see a night illuminated by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign that God gives that he is about to punish the world by means of war, hunger, and persecution of the Church and of the Holy Father. To prevent this, I will come to ask for the Consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart and the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays.” The Madonna calls for Reparation, as in Communions of Reparation.

“If people will attend to my requests, Russia will be converted and there will be peace. If not, Russia will spread it errors throughout the world, fomenting wars and persecution of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, and Various Nations will be Annihilated.” Wars would have ended if the Madonna’s request for Reparation had been honored. And that if Her requests are not attended to, more wars will come.

To Save from Hell
At the fourth apparition, the Madonna said “Pray, Pray a great deal and make many sacrifices. For many souls go to Hell because they have no one to make sacrifices and pray for them.”

Sacrifice to save the damned
In 1923, Lucy entered the Daughters of Mary. Mary appeared to her there. “She agreed to be my true Heavenly Mother, since I had left my earthly mother for love of Her. Again she recommended to me prayer and sacrifice for sinners, saying that a great number are damned because they have no one to pray and sacrifice for them.”

Sins and World War II
In 1942, Sister Lucy said. “There is a very great necessity to save souls, great numbers of souls, and to make reparation for so many numerous sins which are currently drawing down upon us so many numerous chastisements. Souls who should be the lightning conductors of nations and humanity, are in fact the magnet that is drawing Divine Justice down upon us, due to their carelessness, their luke warmness and their pursuit of creature comforts. Never be of their number.”

Sister Lucy is saying that sins were cause of the suffering of the war.

That the Number fixed by God be Complete
“Offer Him everything in reparation for the many sins which, at the present hour, are drawing down upon us so many and such great chastisements. God counts on chosen souls, but what if they should refuse!... It is not enough for a single soul here or there to immolate themselves. It is necessary that the number fixed by God be complete. We are passing through the hour of Justice. If reparation and amendment are wanting, there will be chastisement, suffering and sorrow.”

Lucy is saying that there is a divine accounting in which God wishes to see a sufficient amount of reparation for the numerous sins of humanity.

Prayers and Sacrifice to avoid Chastisement.
A Terrible Chastisement. Lucy told Father Fuentes “But believe me, Father, God will chastise the world and this will be in a terrible manner. The punishment from Heaven is imminent... Father, how much time is there before 1960 arrives? It will be very sad for everyone, not one person will rejoice at all if beforehand the world does not pray and do penance.”

The lesson is that our conduct is worthy of punishment and that punishment can be averted by prayer and penance.

Prayer and Sacrifice to save the world.
“Sister Lucy told me: the two means to save the world are prayer and sacrifice.” The Fuentes Interview.

Prayer and Sacrifice Akita
The first message ... was a call for prayer and sacrifice for the glory of the Father and salvation of souls. The second message, August 3, 1973, was for prayer, penance and courageous sacrifices to soften the Father's anger.

"As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge such as one will never have seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity.”

Sister Lucy stated “Our Lady will protect all Her dear ones.”

Our Daily Duty
In an interview in 1946 with John Haffert of the Blue Army, Lucy was asked what was meant by the word sacrifice. Lucy answered “By sacrifice, Our Lady said that she meant the faithful fulfillment on one’s daily duty... The rosary is important because we are to pray it if we are to fulfill our daily duty...

“The Five First Saturdays is also important because if people make them, they will purge themselves of sin once a month and renew their purpose to fulfill their daily duty”.

Later Lucy added “All that God wishes in the way of mortification is the simple, dutiful performance of one’s everyday tasks and the acceptance of their difficulty and tedium...Many people imagine that penitence means the practice of great austerities...

“Our Lord has said to me ‘The sacrifice that each one can make is to do his duty and obey my law. That is the form of penance I now demand.’ ”

Daily Duty and Sacrifice
In an interview in 1950, Fr H Raffery asked Sister Lucy “Everyone in America believes there are four conditions of the Fatima message. First of all, we are to say the Rosary every day. Secondly, we are to offer the sacrifices of our daily lives. Thirdly, we are to make communions of reparations on First Saturdays. Finally, we are to consecrate ourselves to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Lucy said “Oh, there is one more condition–the wearing of the scapular... The rosary and the scapular are inseparable.”

You cannot have one without having the other.
